On the days you have designated for muscle growth exercises, you must ensure that you eat well. Fuel up for your exercise session by taking in some calories an hour before heading to the gym. Make sure that you don't eat in excess but that you moderately gauge how much you're eating and plan your meals on the days you workout, accordingly. Don't push yourself past your limit, however, don't stop too early either. Every time you do a set, don't give up until you are totally exhausted and can't lift the weight even one more time. When necessary, shorten your sets if you get too fatigued. Do some plyometric exercises. These exercises allow you to develop your fast-twitch muscle fibers, which help to stimulate muscle growth. Plyometrics are considered ballistic moves in that they require a certain amount of acceleration. For example, if you were doing plyometric push-ups, you would propel your body upward by removing your hands from the floor as you complete the movement.
